Indian Navy SSR Medical Assistant Recruitment 2024










Unmarried Male Candidates are invited to apply online for the Senior Secondary Recruit (SSR) Medical Assistant - Batch 02/2024. Begin your career with the Indian Navy and embark on a journey filled with pride, honor, and an opportunity to serve the nation!

  1. Gender:
    • Only unmarried male candidates are eligible to apply.
  2. Educational Qualifications:
    • Must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB).
    • A minimum of 50% aggregate marks is required.
    • A minimum of 40% marks in each subject (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) is mandatory.
  3. Age Criteria:
    • Candidates should be born between 01 November 2003 and 30 April 2007 (both dates inclusive).

Pay and Allowances for Indian Navy SSR Medical

  1. Stipend During Training:
    • A stipend of ₹14,600 per month will be provided during the initial training period.
  2. Pay Scale After Training:
    • Upon successful completion of training, you will be placed in Level 3 of the Defence Pay Matrix, with a salary ranging from ₹21,700 to ₹69,100 per month.
    • Additionally, you will receive Military Service Pay (MSP) of ₹5,200 per month plus Dearness Allowance (DA) as applicable.
  3. Promotion and Pay Prospects:
    • There are promotion opportunities up to the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer-I. At this rank, the pay scale is ₹47,600 to ₹1,51,100 per month plus MSP and DA.

The selection process for the Indian Navy SSR Medical Assistant comprises two stages:

Stage I: Shortlisting

1.      Shortlisting Based on 10+2 Marks:

    • Candidates are shortlisted based on the aggregate percentage of marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in the 10+2 examination.
    • The shortlisting is carried out state-wise, and the cut-off marks may vary from state to state based on the number of vacancies.

2.      Call-up for Stage II:

    • Shortlisted candidates will receive a call-up letter for Stage II, which includes the Physical Fitness Test (PFT), Written Examination, and Recruitment Medical Examination.
    • If there are more candidates with similar percentages than the quota allows, those with an earlier date of birth will be given priority.

Stage II: Physical Fitness Test (PFT), Written Examination, and Medical Examination

1.      Physical Fitness Test (PFT):

    • The PFT is mandatory and consists of the following activities:
      • 1.6 Km Run: To be completed in 6 minutes and 30 seconds.
      • 20 Squats (Uthak Baithak).
      • 15 Push-ups.
      • 15 Bent Knee Sit-ups.
    • Candidates undergoing PFT will do so at their own risk.

2.      Written Examination:

    • Question Paper: The written exam will be bilingual (English & Hindi) and of objective type.
    • Sections: The paper is divided into four sections: English, Science, Biology, and General Awareness/Reasoning Ability.
    • Total Marks: Each section carries 25 marks, making a total of 100 marks.
    • Duration: The exam duration is one hour.
    • Passing Criteria: Candidates must pass in all sections as well as in aggregate.

3.      Recruitment Medical Examination:

    • Candidates who qualify the PFT and Written Examination will undergo a Recruitment Medical Examination at designated centers.
    • Those found medically unfit will be advised on the appeal process, which must be conducted at a designated military hospital within five days.
    • No further appeals will be permitted if declared permanently unfit by a military hospital.

Merit List:

  • A merit list will be prepared based on candidates’ performance in the Stage II Written Examination, PFT, and Recruitment Medical Examination.
  • The final merit list is state-wise and may have different cut-off marks depending on the state.
  • The merit list will be published on the Indian Navy's official website by the end of October 2024 or early November 2024.

Pre-Enrolment Medical:

  • Final medical formalities will be conducted at INS Chilka for those selected in the merit list.
  • Only candidates who pass this medical examination will be inducted.

This selection process ensures that only the most capable and fit candidates are enrolled as Medical Assistants in the Indian Navy.

 

Medical Standards for Indian Navy SSR Medical Assistant

To ensure that candidates are physically and mentally fit for the demanding duties of a Medical Assistant in the Indian Navy, strict medical standards are enforced. These include:

1. General Health:

  • Candidates must be in good physical and mental health.
  • They should be free from any disease or disability that might interfere with the efficient performance of duties both ashore and afloat under peace as well as war conditions.

2. Physical Standards:

  • Height: The minimum required height is 157 cm.
  • Chest: Minimum chest expansion of 5 cm.
  • Weight: Weight should be proportionate to height and age, as per Navy guidelines.

3. Visual Standards:

  • Uncorrected Vision: 6/12 in both eyes.
  • Corrected Vision: 6/6 in both eyes.
  • Color Perception: CP II (Candidates must pass the color perception test).

4. Tattoos:

  • Allowed: Permanent body tattoos are permitted only on the inner face of the forearms (from inside of the elbow to the wrist) and on the reverse side of the palm/back (dorsal) side of the hand.
  • Not Allowed: Tattoos on any other part of the body are not acceptable, and candidates with such tattoos will be disqualified.

5. Ear and Dental Hygiene:

  • Candidates are advised to have their ears cleaned for wax and to have tartar removed from their teeth prior to the medical examination.

6. Previous Medical Unfitness:

  • Candidates who have been declared permanently medically unfit by any Armed Forces Hospital in previous recruitment processes for the same entry in the Navy are advised not to apply.

7. Appeal Process:

  • Candidates found medically unfit during the Recruitment Medical Examination can appeal against the findings within 5 days at a designated military hospital. However, no further review or appeal is allowed beyond this.

Training: Commences November 2024 at INS Chilka followed by professional training.
